www.morrisonshop.com
Last summer I spent a frenzied day shopping with my friend in Melbourne. I was taken to a little place in Clifton Hill with the tiniest and most stylish shop. I spent half my life's savings in that Little Shop of Gorgeous Basics i.e. by Morrison. The 3/4 wide leg pants I love. Comfortable and chic. Morrison have now started a shop on-line. I hope you enjoy browsing.

The Minimalist - Things to Prepare Before the Turkey Goes in the Oven - NYTimes.com
Minimalist prep..minimalist cooking..minimalist fuss..just the way I like it..but if I want complex brain melt down recipes..which I do occassionally..for the challenge and pleasure of transcending the usual child friendly recipes..I'll slip into a comfy armchair surrounded by my library of cookery books and seek out a challenge.
I was amazed last night watching Eamon Sullivan from Celebrity Masterchef produce a stunning desert from the amazing corners of his mind. No recipe ! Just a choice of core ingredients..being strawberries or chocolate. He chose chocolate ( my biggest sin) ! and created perfection. Well..I thought.. if a mere Olympic Champion (cough) can produce this level of competency (out of the water) why can't I ( cough) ?
I'll never be an Olympic swimmer..but I could be a great pastry chef ;)

jolie laide - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary
jolie laide - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary: ": jo·lie laide
Pronunciation: \zhȯ-lē-led\
: good-looking ugly woman : woman who is attractive though not conventionally pretty"
I do love this term. Some mornings I can oh so relate. Can't understand women who say they enjoy age-ing. I suppose it is benign acceptance of the inevitable. Good on them. I find I am not as forgiving..but am trying to accept. Will begin by caring for myself more so than I have in the past. Beginning with proper skin care and drinking plenty of water.. (the French woman's secret) ;)
Ever since taking three yoga/pilates style classes a week I have noticed joint flexibility beyond my wildest dreams. I mean..I am never going to be able to wrap my leg around my neck..but being able to bend down and touch the ground is major achievement without bending ze kneez !

A Favourite Quote
desire to inspire - kim's page: "When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me
that happiness was the key to life.
Went I went to school, they asked me
what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I wrote down 'happy'.
They told me I didn't understand the assignment
and I told them
they didn't understand life."

"Reuben Sandwich
Not your grandpa’s reuben... substitute what would normally be pastrami with leftover turkey and you have a heavenly slice of old New York.
Yield: as many sandwiches as your leftover turkey affords.
For each sandwich:
1 slice rye bread
leftover Thanksgiving turkey, sliced as thinly as possible (about 3 ounces)
about 1-2 tablespoons Easy New York Style Russian Dressing (recipe follows)
about 2 tablespoons high quality sauerkraut
a couple of thin slices of Swiss cheese (a good Emmental makes a big difference)
Preheat the broiler.
For each sandwich, pile a bunch of turkey on the rye bread. Drizzle with as much dressing as your dare. Cover with a layer of sauerkraut and then cover with a layer of Swiss cheese. Broil until cheese is melted and a bit browned.
New York Style Russian Dressing
The perfect balance of condiments.
Yield: about ¾ cup
½ cup + 2 tablespoons Veganaise (or your favorite mayonnaise)
1 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon ketchup
1 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon pickle relish
Mix everything together."

French Women and Skin Care
Never been one to ply on the make up. My lips only felt a slither of colour when in my early 40's. I read somewhere that lipstick/lip gloss is an over 40's women's little pot of magic. I must admit I agree. That was all I felt I needed to face the world back then..besides moisturiser. Now in my 50's I still live by that code. Even though my face now suggests I could possibly do with a bit more enhancing. I will stoop to a good tinted moisturiser with as SP factor. That's it.
The article below I wish I had read when I was younger. But..you are never too late to start !

David Jones Christmas Shopping Night
Just got home from DJ's after our annual mini shopping spree-ette. I managed to keep the credit card blitz responsibly low. Only a couple of gorgeous tops from Witchery and a large bottle of Maggie Beer's Verjuice. Having received today..from Barossa Farm Produce..the recipes that Saskia Beer cooked so passionately right before her drooling audience (me) and a wide eyed gaggle of other passionate foodies, inspired me to buy Verjuice. The Beer family seems to use it in just about everything ! if it's good enough for them..it's good enough for me !
A Snipette from Maggie Beer's website...
Maggie was the first in the world to produce Verjuice commercially. Made from the juice of unfermented grapes, use it as a gentle acidulant wherever you might find lemon juice or vinegar too tart - which means whenever you want the gentlest bite of flavour.
Serving Suggestion:
Use in salad dressings, deglazing the pan when cooking fish and chicken or poaching dried fruit to serve with a glossy dollop of mascarpone
It is also delicious as a drink. Trust me :))

Sibella Court - Our Shop
I had to start somewhere and this treasure of a shop I have just come across seemed like the perfect way to begin. I just love the colours of 'atelier' and will soon be painting my rooms with a combination of these gorgeous colours...mmmm...I feel good already. These will create the mood I am looking for.
